Where I Teach

Skateboard Lessons at Sydney Park

Sydney Park in Newtown is the biggest skatepark in Sydney and one of the two places where most of my lessons happen. Everything you need to know before your first lesson there is below.

Getting there

The skatepark is inside Sydney Park, on the Alexandria side of Newtown and Erskineville, a short walk from St Peters station. There is street parking around the park. Weekends are busy, so allow a few extra minutes to park.

The skatepark

Sydney Park has three areas: a street plaza with banks, ledges, rails and stairs; a small, smooth bowl; and a large flow bowl. That means there is something for every level, from a first push on flat ground to bowl and street skating. There is seating and shade around the edges, so parents can sit and watch, and the rest of the park, with its hills, wetlands and bike track, is right next door.

Lessons at Sydney Park

I teach every level here, complete beginners included. Weekday mornings and early afternoons are the quietest times at the park; late afternoons and weekends are livelier.

Lessons run seven days a week, from 10am to 6pm. You can book a private one-to-one lesson, a semi-private lesson for two skaters, or a small group of up to five. I bring a board if you do not have one yet, and every student wears a helmet. Prices are on the pricing page, and you can book through the contact form.
