One2Flip is my skateboarding school in Sydney, and I am Vladimir, its only instructor. This policy explains what personal information I collect when you visit one2flip.com or book a lesson with me, why I collect it, how I look after it and what choices you have. I have written it in plain English so that it is actually readable. I handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), and I treat information about children with particular care.
Who I am
This website is owned and run by One2Flip (Vladimir Konovalov), a skateboarding school teaching at skateparks in North Sydney, Meadowbank and Sydney Park. The website address is https://one2flip.com. If you have any question about this policy or about your information, email me at info@one2flip.com.
What information I collect
Lesson enquiries and bookings. When you fill in the Book a Lesson form on the Contact page, I collect your name, email address and mobile number, the age of the skater, their skating level, whether they have their own skateboard or would like to rent one, your preferred location, date and start time, and anything you write in the message box. If you contact me by email or Instagram instead, I keep the correspondence and any details you give me in it.
Safety information. Before a lesson I may ask about anything that affects how I teach safely, for example an injury, a medical condition or a disability that I should know about at the skatepark, and an emergency contact for the skater. This is health information, which the Privacy Act treats as sensitive. I only collect it with your consent, I use it only to keep the skater safe during lessons, and I never share it with anyone except emergency services if there is an accident.
Payments. This website does not take payments and does not collect card details. Lessons are paid for directly with me, and any payment reference or receipt I keep is used only to record that your booking has been paid for and to meet my tax and record-keeping obligations.
Newsletter. If you enter your name and email address in the newsletter box, I collect them so that I can send you occasional updates about class dates and skating tips. You will first receive an email asking you to confirm your subscription, and nothing is sent until you do. Subscriptions that are not confirmed within 30 days are deleted. The newsletter is managed with the MailPoet plugin, which stores subscriber details in this website’s own database. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or by writing to me.
Photos and video. I sometimes take photos and short videos during lessons to show a skater’s progress and to share what One2Flip does. See the section on photos and video below. Nothing is published without your permission.
Website usage data. Like almost every website, this one records technical information automatically: your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit and the time of your visit. This is held in ordinary server logs by my hosting provider and is used only to keep the site running and secure. I do not currently run advertising trackers or profiling tools on this site.
Children and young people
Many of my students are children. Where the skater is under 18, I expect the booking to be made by a parent or guardian, and it is the parent or guardian’s contact details that I collect and use. I ask for the skater’s age only so that I can plan a suitable lesson and place them in the right group. I do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child through this website, and I never send marketing to children. I hold a current NSW Working With Children Check, and a parent or guardian is welcome to stay for the whole lesson.
If you believe a child has given me personal information without a parent or guardian’s knowledge, please email me and I will delete it.
How I use your information
I use the information you give me to reply to your enquiry and arrange, confirm, reschedule or cancel lessons; to prepare a lesson that suits the skater’s age, level and equipment; to keep every student safe at the skatepark; to record and receive payment for lessons and lesson packages; to send you the newsletter if you have asked for it; to keep this website secure and working properly; and to meet my legal obligations. I do not sell your information, and I do not use it for anything unrelated to running the school.
Photos and video
Photos and video of students appear on this website and on the One2Flip Instagram and Facebook pages only with permission. For a child, that permission comes from a parent or guardian. You can say no at any time, before or after a lesson, and it will make no difference to the lesson itself. If you would like a photo or video of you or your child taken down from this website or from my social media, email me and I will remove it as quickly as I can, normally within a few days. Please note that I cannot control copies that other people may already have shared.
If you upload images to this website yourself (for example in a message), please avoid images with embedded location data, as visitors can extract that data from an image file.
Who I share your information with
I am the only person who teaches at One2Flip, and I do not pass your information to anyone else except the service providers that make the website and my email work. These are my web hosting provider, which stores the website, its database and the enquiry form entries; the email service through which enquiries and my replies are delivered; and, if you subscribe, the newsletter software (MailPoet) and the email delivery service it uses to send the newsletter. Each of these providers handles your information under its own privacy policy and only for the purpose of providing its service to me.
I will also disclose information if the law requires it, or to emergency services if a student is hurt during a lesson.
Information sent overseas
Some of the providers above store data on servers outside Australia. In practice this means that your enquiry details and email correspondence may be held in data centres overseas, including in the United States and Europe. I choose established providers with published security and privacy commitments, and I keep the amount of information stored to what is needed to run the school.
Cookies and embedded content
This website uses only a small number of cookies. If you leave a comment on a news post you may choose to have your name, email address and website saved in a cookie so that you do not have to type them again; that cookie lasts for one year. When I log in to manage the site, WordPress sets cookies that keep me logged in; these are not set for ordinary visitors. I do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.
Some pages embed content from other websites, in particular Instagram videos and web fonts. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited the other website: Instagram (Meta) and the font provider may set their own cookies and record your visit, especially if you are logged in to an account with them. Their handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policies, not by this one.
If you leave a comment on the site, I collect the details shown in the comment form together with your IP address and browser details to help detect spam. Comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service, and an anonymised version of your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to see whether you have a profile picture there.
How I keep your information safe
The website is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, the booking form is protected against automated spam, and the site, its plugins and its administrator login are kept up to date and password-protected. Enquiry details are stored in the website’s database and in my email inbox, both of which are protected by passwords and two-factor authentication where the provider offers it. No method of storage or transmission over the internet is completely secure, but I take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access.
How long I keep your information
I keep enquiry and booking details for as long as you are a student with me and for a reasonable time afterwards, so that you can pick lessons up again without starting from scratch and so that I can deal with any question about a booking. Payment records are kept for the period required by Australian tax law, currently five years. Safety information is deleted when a student stops taking lessons. Comments and their details stay on the site until the comment is removed. If you ask me to delete your information, I will do so unless I am required to keep it.
Your rights
You can ask me at any time what personal information I hold about you or your child, ask me to correct it if it is wrong or out of date, ask me to delete it, withdraw your consent to photos or video, or unsubscribe from the newsletter. Just email info@one2flip.com and I will respond within a reasonable time, normally within 14 days. There is no charge for any of this.
If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information, please tell me first and I will do my best to put it right. If you are still not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.
Links to other websites
This site links to my Instagram and Facebook pages and may link to other websites, such as skatepark information or equipment suppliers. I am not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and I encourage you to read their policies.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time, for example if I add a new booking or payment tool to the website. The date at the top shows when it was last changed, and the current version will always be published on this page.
