Safe for Children, Reassuring for Parents
Many of the enquiries I receive are from parents, and the first question is usually about safety. Here is what you can rely on, so you do not have to go looking for it.
- Working with Children CheckI hold a current NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC), the clearance every person who works with children in New South Wales must have.
- Check it yourself in a minuteAsk me for my WWC number and you can verify it directly on the NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian website.
- Helmets on, alwaysEvery student wears a helmet, and I recommend wrist guards and knee pads for beginners. If you do not have protective gear yet, let me know when you book and I will help you get sorted.
- Parents are welcome to stayYou are welcome to stay and watch any lesson. We start on flat ground at walking pace, and nobody is pushed before they are ready.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I book a skateboarding lesson?
Fill out the form on this page with the skater’s age, level and the days that suit you, and I will reply to arrange a time. Please book at least two days ahead.
What age groups do you teach?
All ages are welcome, from young children to my oldest student at 65.
I have never skated before. Can I still join?
Absolutely. Complete beginners are my favourite place to start, and every lesson is paced entirely around you.
Do you offer private lessons?
Yes. Private one-to-one lessons are available for all students, booked at a time that works for you.
Do you offer group lessons?
Yes. Semi-private sessions are for two skaters, ideal for siblings, friends or partners, and small group sessions are kept to a maximum of five skaters so that everyone still gets individual attention.
How long is a typical lesson?
Lessons are one or two hours. One hour suits younger children; for teenagers and adults I recommend two hours, which gives time to warm up, learn something new and practise it.
Where do the lessons take place?
At three Sydney skateparks: North Sydney, Meadowbank and Sydney Park (Newtown/Erskineville), 7 days a week from 10am to 6pm. In the longer summer evenings a session can run a little later; I never teach after dark.
Do I need my own skateboard?
Bring your own board if you have one, or tell me when you book and I will bring one you can hire for the lesson.
What should I wear to a lesson?
Comfortable clothing you can move freely in, and closed-toe shoes with good grip.
What safety equipment is required?
A helmet, knee and elbow pads and wrist guards are required for every lesson. If you do not have protective gear yet, let me know when you book and I will help you get sorted.
Are you cleared to work with children?
Yes. I hold a current Working With Children Check (WWCC), the NSW clearance for people who work with under-18s. Parents are welcome to ask to see it, and are always welcome to stay and watch the lesson.
What is your cancellation policy?
I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations; later cancellations may incur a fee.
How much do lessons cost?
Private lessons are $85 an hour and semi-private sessions for two skaters are $110 an hour for both of you ($55 each). Lesson packages bring the hourly rate down; see the Pricing page for full details.
